1. Ionizing Radiation- when the radiation breaks apart the DNA of the cell

2. Tetrad- there are 4 chromatids 

3. Chromatids- 2 replicated strands of DNA that can later be separated to become individual DNA.

4. Obligate aerobic- they cannot survive without oxygen

5. Obligate heterotroph - an organism requiring organic compounds for its principal source of food

6. Peptidoglycan - a polymer that is composed of polysaccharide and peptide chains and is found especially in bacterial cell walls

7. Carotenoid - any of several highly unsaturated pigments; most of which are yellow, orange, or red and many of which occur widely in plants, especially in all green tissues, and in animals, being characterized chemically by a long aliphatic polyene chain composed of isoprene units

8. Rads - way of measuring radiation

9. Alkylamine - an amine (as methylamine) containing one or more alkyl groups

10. Terraform - to alter the environment of (a celestial body) in order to make capable of supporting terrestrial life forms

11. Cytosolic Manganese- a metal element
